Problems of the oil pollution in the marine medium occur substantially because of huge human exploitation of global oil reserves and the methods used in its recovery and transportation. Besides, the illegal discharge of oil from ships into the oceans of our planet is an evident problem that influences the whole marine ecosystem. Oil from ships can be spilled into the water through big and catastrophic accidental spills or through small spills resulted from negligence, malfunctioning equipment, or deliberate illegal actions. When oil enters the water, its impact on the ecosystem and its components are destructive. In result some birds, mammals, and fish can be killed in the case if they swallow oil. Many animals may die from eating oil-polluted prey. Birds, in particular, may die if the oil covers their feathers because further they cannot fly and stay warm. In addition, when oil covers the feathers the birds can become ill and may die. Oil can lead to a bad odor of the water and leave a sticky film on the water surface that kills fish and animals. All this shows that oil is one of the most destructive pollutants of water. […]
