Many elements of our modern world originated in the period between the birth of Petrarch (1304) and the death of Milton (1674). This was the epoch of the printing invention in the West, the discovery of America and the first circumnavigation of the globe, the Protestant Reformation, the rise of large modern cities, and the development of a substantial urban middle class with its practical outlook and new understanding of values (“Renaissance Studies.”)
In the Renaissance, the unique talents and the individual potential became very important. Some of the most prominent artists, architects, and sculptors of the Renaissance include Galileo, Donato Bramante, Lorenzo de Medici, Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Vermeer, Rembrandt, Spinoza. Erasmus, Cervantes, Shakespeare, Bacon, Raphael, Giovanni Bellini, Sandro Botticelli, Titian, Donatello, Giotto, Dante, Petrarch, Rabelais, Montaigne, More, the Borgias, Machiavelli, Luther, Goethe, Beethoven and Hegel. On a line with more than 2,000 land engagements of the American Civil War, Gettysburg is considered to be the greatest one. The Battle of Gettysburg was not the last battle in the American Civil war, but it remains the major battle between the North and the South. This war which happened on July 1, 2 and 3, 1863 in Gettysburg carried away many lives, and the number of died men is higher than in any other battle on North American land. […]
